Care Instructions- Steel

-Clean and thoroughly dry all tools and non-stainless steel utensils after use.

-Apply a light coating of oil such as mineral or honing oil, or a food-safe oil for items that will be in contact with food before prolonged storage.

-Items that will be in contact with high heat during cooking can be cured periodically, similar to the curing of a cast iron pan. Martha Stewart provides instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46nRKacPWPs

-Light surface rust can usually be removed with light sanding with steel wool or a fine grit sandpaper followed by the application of oil such as linseed oil, food-safe oil, or a finishing paste wax

Outdoor and High Humidity Use

-Ensure proper water and rust resistant finish prior to use outdoors. This can include the application of a rust- and waterproof paint such as Rustoleum, or a clear enamel lacquer

-Monitor regularly for damage to the surface finish from scratches that can lead to rust

Stainless Steel

-Due to its high chromium content, stainless steel is very resistant to rust, but would still benefit from proper care and maintenance.
